Round the Churches

A big Church of England rally will be held in the Town Hall tomorrow evening. His Grace the Archbishop will be the principal speaker, and the general subject will be "The Church in Action.”

The acting-vicar will conduct both services in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell, tomorrow. Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8 a.m. and at 12 noon.

The Rev. Charles Chandler will preach at the morning service in St. Matthew’s, Wellesley Street, tomorrow, and Mr. William Birss will give a short address to children. In the evening Canon Grant Cowen will preach. A lecture will be given in the Unity Hall at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The subject will be “The Virgin Birth: Is it a Biological Fact that the Modern Mind Cannot Accept?” In the Edendale Presbyterian Church tomorrow morning, the Rev. W. Gilmour will preach on “The Transition.” In the evening he will speak on “The Secret of Being Happy.” The Rev. J. Pattison will preach at the morning service in the Somervell Presbyterian Church tomorrow, and in the evening the Rev. J. A. Thompson will preach.

Mr. Reuben E. Dowle will conduct the service in the Tawhiri Road Presbyterian Church, Onehunga, at 7 p.m. tomorrow. The subject of his address will bo: ‘Why Do the People Imagine a Vain Thing?”

The Spirtual Scientists’ Church will meet in Mackelvie Street at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow. The Rev. J. G. Hughes will speak at both services, his subject at the second being "The Religious Crisis.”

The Rev. George Jackson will hold a community mission service in the Zealandia Hall, Dominion Road, at 7 p.m. tomorrow. Mr. Jackson will give addresses on various subjects, and later the meeting will be open for free discussion.

The Progressive Church of Spiritualists, Newmarket, will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow. An address on “Development” will be given by a student.

The Rev. A. S. Wilson will conduct both services in the Grange Road Baptist Church tomorrow. In the morning he will preach on “The Pathway of Power,” and in the evening on “A Gospel Message.”

The Rev. N. P. Larsen will preach the morning service in St. John’s, P sonby Road, tomorrow, and in the evening the Rev. Arthur Mitchell will conduct the service. Special anthems and solos will be sung.

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, will meet in the Church H: %. Symonds Street, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.i %. tomorrow. The general subject of the addresses will be “God, the Only Cause and Creator.”

The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour will preach at the morning service in the Methodist Central Mission tomorrow. In the evening a Strand Theatre service will be held, when the Rev. L. C. Horwood will preach and the picture, “The Last Days of Pompeii.” will be shown.

The Rev. O. Laird will speak at the Men’s Brotherhood meeting to be held in the Y.M.C.A. at 4.15 p.m. tomorrow. The International Bible Students’ Association will meet in the Masonic Hall. Edinburgh Street, at 6.45 p.m. tomorrow. Mr. R. T. Reid will speak on “The Kingdom.”
