Dita Paulo, wlio reached Hollywood as one of the latest European “discoveries,” was discovered, on arrival, to possess an accent making it impossible to employ her for “talkies.” She returned to Germany without having made a single picture.

The extreme scarcity of experienced film actors with English accents in Hollywood is leading to all sorts of curious situations. Rupert Julian, the Australian director, who is making a mystery film, “The Green Ghost,” has decided, because of this shortage, to play one of the parts in the film himself.

Hollywood lias a museum which contains souvenirs of famous films and actors. The collection was made by Harry Croker, assistant to Charles Chaplin, and here can be seen the rocking-cabin made famous in “The Gold Rush,” Harold Lloyd’s hornrimmed spectacles, Novarro’s “BenHur” chariot and a thousand other objects of interest.

In Berlin papers containing a fullpage advertisement of a forthcoming fancy dress ball “50 first-class film star kisses” were offered as one of the prizes in a sweepstake. They were not the first prize, ranking as a most decidedly “middle-class” feature on the list. In fact, 50 first-class star kisses were ranked between lib of caviare and free tutelage offered by a motoring school.

Reginald Denny has just completed the equipment of a complete gymnasium in his home. Denny is an ardent athlete, and devotes a certain amount of time daily to keeping in the condition that made him amateur middle-weight champion in the English air forces during the war.
