“Young Woodley’’ will be presented for one night in Hamilton, June IS. The Auckland season will open on Tuesday evening, at His Majesty’s Theatre. There are 900 actors and actresses out of work in London, and yet 65 negroes were imported to play in “Porgy,” says a London paper. Natalie Moya, who will play the lead in “Young Woodley,” was claimed by St. John Irvine, the celebrated London critic, to be one of the most talented actresses he had ever seen. Sir Ben Greet, who figured in the Birthday Honours List, is England’s veteran Shakespearean actor. He celebrated his 71th birthday recently. Sir Ben's company was well known throughout the English provinces and many of the present London stars began in it.
An arrangement has just been made whereby Gordon Craig is to resume work in London as a theatrical producer. He has entered into **an offensive and defensive alliance'’ with Maurice Browne, who presents “Journey’s End’’ at the Savoy Theatre. They are now discussing what plays they will produce. The son of Ellen Terry, Gordon Craig acted with Sir Henry Irving for some years before he turned his attention to production and stage design. Lately he has lived and worked in the U.S.A.
