RARE FIRST FOLIO

SOLD FOR £IO,OOO At a price of over £IO,OOO a first folio Shakespeare, dated 1G23, lias been sold by an English nobleman to Mr. B. J. Beyer, the American bookseller. The folio, which was unrecorded in the census made by Sir Sidney Lee, is in excellent condition, and has the famous last leaf, generally missing in notable examples. The highest price paid at auction for a first folio was £5,600, obtained seven years ago for the “Daniel” copy long in the possession of the late Baroness Burdett Coutts.
