TODAY’S RACES HAYES CREATES RECORD Fin© weather conditions prevailed this afternoon when the Auckland Cycling Club held a race from Manger© Bridge to Papakura and back, a distance of 30 miles. A field of 17 riders faced the starter and the results were as follow: K. Mathieson (3m) 1 S. Hayes (scr.) 2 G. Hall (4m) . . . 3 F. Potter (2m) 4 Time, lhr. 29m. 34 4-ss. Fastest time was made by Hayes, who covered the distance in lhr. 17m 355, a record for the course. The Manukau Amateur Cycling Club staged two races, a senior and a junior. The first attracted 40 starters and the second 12. The senior race resulted as follows: F. Restall (3min) 1 G. Clarke (3min) 2 H. Camp (3min) 3 G. Gardiner (3min 45see) .... 4 F. Casey, off 30sec, gained fastest time 2Smin 15sec, another course record, scratch—32 minute.s The junior results were:— C. Hanson (2min) 1 IC. Harris (2min) 2 W. Johnson (3min 30sec) .... 3 C. Yule gained the fastest time off
