The Bev. L. I*. Cubitt. of Devonport, is reported to be seriously ill. Mr. R- W. McVilly arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. W. Stewart, publicity mana/er for the railways, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. >lr E. J- Parr. Chief Inspector of Secondary Schools, and Mr. W. S. La Trobe. Superintendent of Technical Education, are at present in Auckland. Mr. G. W. Hutchison, of Auckland, has been appointed a Justice of the. Peace, according to a Press Association message received from Wellington. Mr- A. C. Day. official secretary to his Excellency the Governor-General, left bv the Limited last evening for Wellington, accompanied by Mrs. D ay. Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., who is to take over the Whangarei district shortly, was on the Bench with Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., at the Police Court this morning. Second-Lieutenant M. R. Haeusler, of the Hauraki Regiment, has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Force’s Long-Service Medal. Captain F. L. Hartnell (retired) has received the game award. Sir Ewen J. Maclean, president of the British Medical Association, will attend the Australasian Medical Conference to be held in Sydney in September. It is possible that he may visit Zealand at the conclusion of the conference. Dr. J. A. Jenkins, Dunedin. Dr. W, P. P. Gordon. Stratford, and Dr. J. Hardie Neil, Auckland, will represent the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association at the Pan-Pacific Surgical Conference to be held at Honolulu on August 14.
