NEW ROAD BRIDGES

MERCER AND RANGIRIRI (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Thursday. The Public Works Department has invited tenders for the construction of two ferro-concrete bridges on the Great South Road to replace existing wooden ones. One will span the Whangamarino River, near Mercer, and the other the Onatea Stream, near Rangiriri. Tho Whangamarino River bridge will consist of live 40ft. spans and will be 220 ft. long and 20ft. wide. The Onatea Stream bridge will be of three 40ft. spans and will be 140 ft long and 20ft. wide. A deviation in the road cutting out a sharp bend south of Rangiriri will give access to the latter bridge.
