DIGGERS’ LAST WEEK
BRIGJHT ST. JAMES REVEUE Pat Hanna’s famous company of Diggers enters on the last week of its three weeks’ season at St. James Theatre this evening, when there will be a complete change of programme. During the fortnight for which this inimitable company has held, the stage, many fine programmes have been offered, but that commencing this evening will surpass all as a bright refreshing revue. The programme is divided into a number of star items, in which the large company of 25 artists, with the redoubtable Pat Hanna himself in the van, is seen in a fast moving show overflowing with surprising and joyous moments. The short sketches embrace all the latest songs, and bright dances, interspersed with delightfully original humour. Tomorrow afternoon there will be a matinee at 2.30 p.in. Booking arrangements are advertised. Though he has played leading roles in hundreds of stage and screen drama. Rod La Koque, for the first time in his career, is portraying the character of a prince. This occurs in “The One Woman Idea,” made for Fox Films. H& enacts the role of Prince Ahmed in this exotic screen drama, the locale of which is Persia. Mary Astor gives a meritorious performance as Deo Renaud, a “come-on,” who lures the ticket-buyers outside of an amusement concession known as “Hell.” The girl attempts to change her mode of life and marries the youthful keeper of a lighthouse, but the calm and peace of her new existence is marred by the intrusion of former associates. How she finally wins out is dramatically told in the appealing story.
