When Red Bank fell on the opening day at Otaki, his rider, Alister McDonald, brother of the well-known horseman, sustained injuries to his leg and shoulder, yet, despite the fact that the mishap occurred in the first event, the horseman was allowed to remain on the course till after the racing had terminated before being ft ansferred to hospital in Palmerston North, where he now lies.
