MAYOR APPROACHED BY CONTROVERSIALISTS CITY IN TWO CAMPS The vigorous controversy agitating citizens of Auckland about the question whether the men of the German cruiser Emden should be accorded a civic reception on their arrival on June 26, has split the city into two camps. ’J’HE Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, said this morning that representatives of both opinions had been telephoning him assiduously; the one side urging a civic reception, and the other giving their arguments why such a reception was unwarranted. “And what does your Worship think about it?” “1 have nothing whatever to say just at present,” he replied.
