KEEN COMPETITION (Prom Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Tuesday. The weekly stock sale at the Frankton saleyards today was well attended, and competition was keen. Beef was yarded in average numbers, and the quality was generally only fair. There was a fair yarding of fat sheep, and a heavy yarding of pigs. The auctioneers report as follow: New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.—Prime fat steers, £ls 17s 6d to £l6; fat cows, £S 15s to £9 17s 6d, lighter, £7 10s to £8 ss; light cows, £6 to £7 ss; fat wethers, 37s to 37s 6d; lambs, 24s 3d to 27s 3d; heavy baconers, £3 19s to £4 4s; lighter, £3 Ss to £3 15s; heavy porkers, £2 12s to £3 4s. Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd.—An average yarding of cattle and a good yarding of sheep. There were also a good number of dairy cattle penned. Baconers and porkers came forward in large numbers, and sold at late rates. There was a good demand for good quality beef and mutton, but values were about the same as those ruling last week.
