HOCKEY AT ROTORUA
AARD CUP TOURNAMENT (From Our Own Correspondent) ROTORUA, Tuesday. The Aard Cup tourney contest was held yesterday. Whakatane (holder) did not put in an appearance. Te Puke also failed to send a team. The cup was won by Rotorua, captained by Miss E. Mitchell. Mr. C. H. Clinkard. M.P. presented the cup to the winning -team, and congratulated it on its fine play. An exhibition game was played between Rotorua and Rangaitiki. neither side scoring, after a very hardfought and excellent game. The visitors were entertained to a very enjoyable dance in the evening. Mr Con Mitchell and Mr. Reid ably carried out the duties of umpires. TAUMARUNUI DISTRICT (From. Our Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday. The women’s hodkey match, Kakahi v. Taumarunui High School, was a good game, though Kakahi had the misfortune to field only 10 players. Play was brisk and sparkling, and School’s win by four goals to one was not obtained without a stern tussle. M. Devereux and M. Thompson each registered a. duo for the winners, and Kakahi’s gor*l was notched by J. Jones.
