WOMAN BEFORE COURT
A case described by Constable S. Johnsen as one of the most disgusting he had ever handled in his police career, was heard before Mr. F. IT. Levien, S.M., in the Oneliunga Police Court this morning. A middle-aged married woman named Alice Gordon was charged with drunkenness. Sergeant Cruickshank said that she had been found in the school grounds on Saturday night. A number of drunken men had made off on the approach of the police. Prisoner had two children, aged 14 and seven years respectively, and he asked that a" prohibition order be issued, to which accused objected. Constables Ratliie and YVinton corroborated the sergeant’s statements, and said tht accused was generally under the influence of liquor on Friday and Saturday nights. The sergeant applied for 9s costs for the taxi driver. The woman was convicted, prohibited for one year and ordered to pay costs.
