MILK PRICES RISE
HALF-PENNY A QUART UP The retail price of milk rose on Saturday by one halfpenny a quart, making can-delivered milk now sell at 6?.d a quart and bottled milk at 7d a quart. Small cartons of cream have increased in price by Id, and the larger cartons correspondingly. Last year a similar rise in prices took place on January 13 and they were reduced again on September i, so that this year Aucklanders have had the benefit of the lower scale for over four months longer.
