BELLIGERENT FINED 10/The timely arrival of a constable interrupted a probable brawl between Frank Callagher and another man in Symonds Street on Saturday evening Callagher was caught but the other combatant made his escape. This morning, at the Police Court. Callagher, aged 47, pleaded guilty to being disorderly while drunk. Sub-Inspector McCarthy described the offence as ‘‘not serious.” Callagher had become involved in a quarrel with a man outside a Symonds Street hotel, and a fight was just about to start when a constable arrived. “The other man got away,” added the subinspectcr. Callagher was fined 10s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, and, on ) e sub-inspector’s suggestion, was given time to find the money.
