BEARDED VAGRANT GIVEN THREE MONTHS GAOL Said by Sub-Inspector McCarthy to be in a dirty state, George Ross, a labourer, aged 55, was sentenced to tlireo months’ imprisonment on a charge of vagrancy preferred against him at the Police Court this morning. Ross, who nervously plucked at a luxuriant growth of beard. pleaded guilty, and the Sub-inspector said that a term in gaol would do him no harm. “He has been sleeping out in the scrub,” he added. Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M.. agreed with the sub-inspector. "He certainly should go up,” was his opinion.
