ST. JAMES
PAT HANNA’S DIGGERS An appreciative audience greeted the second programme of Pat Hanna’s ‘‘Diggers” at the St. James Theatre on Saturday evening. There is plenty of bright dialogue, singing, and dancing about the show, which is all too short to satisfy. The ballet proves very attractive, I especially the Willow Pattern Plate, i which introduces Thelma Fittard and 1 Stan Lawson. Several sketches of merit are presented, notably ‘ Love Makes Fools of ITs All.” in which Joe Valli and Chris Ivilnor do some excellent comedy teamwork. This little domestic farce is really original, and is well planned and executed, keeping the audience in roars of laughter throughout. Joe Valli is on the stage more than anyone else, and to him belongs the acting honours of the programme. Iza Crossley is also very much to the fore. She contributes several popular sdhgs. as well as taking part in a number of the sketches. Probably the most popular turn ,s that entitled “Irish Revels.” with a charming background of Irish lassies and Irish ballads. There is not a little humour contributed by Pat Hanna and Joe Valli. Another well staged sketch is “I’m Sorry, Sally,” sung by Adele Taylor and Ernest Kopke, accompanied by Madge Conaghan at the piano, and Roy Brinsden on the saxophone and xylophone. Good work is also contributed by Hilda and Jesse Meadows, Jock Thomson, and Micky Phillips. Following the completion of “Girls Gone Wild.” Fox Film. Sue Carol is to play the leading role in a new picture for Fox Films to be called ‘The Exalted Flapper.” Barry Is'orton will play opposite Miss Carol.
