£BOO FOR BAPTISTS

AUXILIARY CONFERENCE. OPENS GLOWING REPORTS Two donations, one of £SOO for the circulating loan fund, and the other of £3OO for the general funds, were received at the 37th annual meeting of the Auckland Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. which opened at the Mount Eden Baptist Church this morning. Both donations were from the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle. Proceedings opened with devotional exercises, during which the president. Mr. F. Gage, made feeling reference to the illness of the King. Mr. S. Barry* president of the Bni»tlst Union, the Rev. M. P. Lascelle*. general secretary of the union, and the Rev. Dr. J J. North, were among those present. Two new arrivals to the province, the Revs. J. lugs and L. A. Day were welcomed by the conference. The annual report of the churches was presented by the Rev. J. S. Hiddleston, secretary of the auxiliary, and the financial statement was made by the treasurer, Mr. W. Bigelow. The report of the Foreign Missions Committee was presented by Mr. A. T. Dow. During the year the report stated a sum of over X 2,000 had been raised for the purpose of assisting smaller churches by way of loans, tree of interest. A new church had beeu erected at Pukekohe. Reports from the Young Men’s and Young Women's Bible Classes aud the Women’s Missionary Union were glowing aud optimistic. A deputation representing the New Zealand Alliance, and consisting '*f Messrs. J. \V. Court and L. Faulkner was received. The Rev. A. Grigg, 8.A., 8.D., tutor at the Baptist College, and minister of the Alfred North Memorial Church, was elected vice-president of the auxiliary . Luncheon was provided by the ladies of the Mount Eden and other Baptist churches. The conference will conclude this evening.
