A meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Board decided to ask the West Australian Trotting Association what practice it adopted to ensure the identity of horses reported dead. This action followed on the receipt of a letter advising the registration of the horses Bingen Lad and Panto, which had been sent from New Zealand. Panto had died shortly after his arrival. The board agreed that when a race was called a “cup” race, a cup must be presented to the winner, otherwise the race would be designated a - handicap.”
