Time, 3.24 4-5. Avonwood began very fast and at the end of four furlongs she was making the pace from White Sun, Thorpie, Chimer and Becky Mine. Passing the stand the last time, Avonwood was still the leader and she had as her nearest attendants Thorpie, Chimer. Grey Cloud, Loiterer, Sonoma and Lindbergh. Before entering the back stretch Loiterer took second place and with half a mile to go Lindbergh emerged from the ruck. Avonwood led across the top, but Lindbergh headed her before reaching the straight. Lindbergh was well clear with a furlong to go and was not being troubled in the run to the judge to decisively beat Tactless by four lengths. Six lengths away in third place followed Loiterer, and then came Chimer, Imperial Thorpe, Mac Dillon, Lulu Lad, White Sun and Logan Hanlon. Sonoma broke in the back stretch the last time.

All started. Won by three lengths, five lengths between second and third. Time, 4.27 4-5.

Jean McElwyn went away fast and for the first six furlongs she was showing the way to Harold Thorpe, Dalmeny, Free Advice, St. Maura and Daphne D’Oro. There was not much change over the next round, but leaving the straight the last time Dalmeny ran into second place. Entering the back stretch. Jean McElwyn led from Dalmeny, Free Advice, Vesuvius, Daphne D’Oro, and Harold Thorpe, who was gradually losing ground. Jean McElwyn led round the top turn from Dalmeny and Free Advice, with Vesuvius next, and Silk Thread putting in a fast run on the outside. As the field swung into the straight Jean McElwyn held a slight advantage from Dalmeny and Vesuvius, with Silk Thread next, and then followed Waitaki Girl. Jean McElwyn dropped out 100 yards from the post, where Vesuvius was in front from Silk Thread. Waitaki Girl came with a fast run on the outer over the closing stages, and. sustaining her run, went on to beat Silk Thread by two lengths. Vesuvius was five lengths away third, and then followed Dalmeny, Jean McElwyn and Cardinal Logan.' LYTTELTON HANDICAP (Saddle) Of £200; 2 miles; 4.46 limit B—NEEORO, 12yds 1 S—DENVERS DOLL, limit 2 7—GLENROWAN, limit 3 Scr.: Anon, Black "Wattle. Won by half a length, four lengths between second and third. Time, 4.41 3-5. Kid Logan led past the stand for the first time, but fell soon after turning out of the straight. Exclusive then took charge and held command from Neeoro, Kautoma, Editor and Glenrowan. Exclusive led down the back, but two furlongs fro:# home Neeoro ran up to her. Neeoro was first into the straight, keeping up his run easily to beat Denvers Doll by half a length. Glenrowan was four lengths away, third, then followed Exclusive, Kautoma, Whakataua and Koro Peter. AVIATION HANDICAP Of £300; unhoppled trotters; 2 miles; 4.44 limit 2 —WESTERN VOYAGE, 36yds .... 1 7 —DOLORES, limit 2 11—NEIGBOUR, 72yds 3 Scr: Tonic: Won by six lengths, half a length between second and third. Time, 4.45 1-5. Lady Fan went away with a good lead from Wild Hebe, Audobell, Nourmahal and Western Voyage, but with a round to go the field began to bunch. Audobell headed Lady Fan leaving the straight for the last time, this pair showing the way to Wild Hebe, Western Voyage, Cannonball and Nigh born. Western Voyage improved his position in the back stretch and, two furlongs from home, ran to the front. Entering the straight W'estern Voyage had a big lead and was not troubled in the run home to beat Dolores by six lengths. Nighborn was half a length away third and, after the placed horses, came Wild Hebe, Cannonball, Lady Fan and Audobell.
