EXPLOSION AND FIRE
SYDNEY HARBOUR-FRONT BLAZE MAN BADLY INJURED SYDNEY, Friday. An explosion followed by a fire at a petrol storage tank on the harbour front menaced the Colonial Sugar Refilling Company's large works nearby. One workman was seriously injured. The tank contained only 15in. of petrol and the firemen were able to prevent the flames from reaching two adjoining filled tanks, 40ft. in diameter, which would have caused a heavy loss of life had they exploded.
