MORE BANKRUPTS

INCREASE IN FIVE MONTHS Although the bankruptcies in Auckland for five months this year are well in advance on those for the .same period last year, there is a decrease in the comparative returns for the month of May.

There were 11 bankruptcies last month against 16 for May last year, the heaviest- returns for the five-month period. So far this year, there have been 70 bankruptcies, with 20 in March as the largest monthly number, against 58 last y£ar.

In 1927, the bankruptcies for the five -months numbered 85, with 21 in the month of May.

No reason for the increase can be ascribed to any particular class of business as the cases are well distributed.
