JAMMED BY TRAM

EX-M.P’S CAR DAMAGED MR. J. S. DICKSON UNHURT Caught between the end of a safety zone and a moving tramcar, a motorcar driven by Mr. J. S. Dickson, exM.P. for Parnell, was damaged at 12.30 p.m. today. The accident occurred at the zone opposite St. James Theatre. Mr. Dickson, who was driving down Queen Street, stopped his car on the Civic Square side

of the road, and before turning to go up Queen Street again waited until a tramcar passed the zone. Then he started his car and swung across the line, when another tram, which was slightly behind

the first one, ran into him, crushing

the front of his car between the end of the safety zone and the motorman’s cabin.

Mr. Dickson escaped without injury, but the left-hand front wheel of his car was completely smashed and the mudguards and running boards crumpled.

The damage to the ear is estimated at about £ 16.
