"PUT AND TAKE”
GAME WITH DICE AT WINTER SHOW MAGISTRATE COLLECTS £5 (From Our Oicn Correspondent) HAMILTON, Today. “We were only messing about with the dice,” pleaded James Patrick King, a middle-aged man, said to be a painter who appeared before Air. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, charged with being a rogue and a vagabond in that he played a game of chance at the Winter Show. Police evidence showed that the accused, surrounded by youths, was spinning a dice, fashioned on the “put and take” style. Money was seen to change hands. Accused said the dice did not belong to him and he was only showing the youths how it worked. He had been suffering front ill-health. The magistrate refused to accept accused’s explanation, and imposed a fine of £5, in default one month’s imprisonment.
