COMMUNITY SINGING

FIRST SESSION ON WEDNESDAY In securing the Town Hall for their opening session on Wednesday the organisers of the Community Singing movement in Auckland have made a wise move. It is almost certain that even that large building will be well filled when the song leader, the Rev. Jasper Calder, gives a start to proceedings at 12.30 p.m. General Sir George Richardson will be chairman and the services of Miss Ida Holmes and Mr. Len Barnes, soloists, have been secured for the occasion, with Mrs. M. E. Osbourne as accompanist. Free song books will be issued. A collection will be taken up for charitable distribution and with anything approaching the attendances of last year, a useful sum should be available. The singing will be broadcast for the benefit of hospital patients and others
