SASSOON TROPHY WON BY NARROW MARGIN

PRACTICAL TEST FOR PILOTS British Official 'Wireless RUGBY", Wednesday. Less than two seconds divided the first two airplanes in the annual race for the Sassoon Cup, which was competed for yesterday. Part of the race was a practical test of the pilots in getting ready for the flight. Each machine was without petrol and had been deprived of oiie wheel and each pilot, with the help of two aircraftsmen, had to pump 90 gallons of petrol into the tank and fix the wheel. Flight-Lieutenant Lea Cox, 56 th Squadron, won from Flying-Officer Clarke, 29th Squadron. The winner’s speed was 146 miles a nhour. There was a close and exciting finish.
