BADMINTON TOURNEY
NORTHERN CHAMPIONSHIPS The second annual championships of the Northern Badminton Association will be held at the Manger© East Hall on June 3, 4. 6 and 10. Play will commence at 10 o’clock on Monday, and will be continued in the evening on the following dates. Good entries are anticipated, and owing to the remarkable progress of the game during the past year a high standard of play should result. Present holders of the titles are: Men’s singles, T. Kelly; women’s singles. Miss Marjorie Macfarlane; men’s doubles, C. Ellett and E. Dart; women’s doubles, Miss B. Solomon and Mrs. Dart: mixed doubles, Miss A. Ellett and T. Kelly. The following committee has charge of the tournament: —Messrs. J. Paul, C. F. Jones, Misses K. 'Waters, B. Solomon; official referee, Mr. E. A five-bii'd sweepstake attracted 13 | shooters and resulted in a time be- | tween D. Fraser (30yds), C. Seddon (20yds) and I. Lomas (23yds), each getting the possible. The chief match for Mr. C. H. Drysdale’s handsome trophy resulted in an outright win for J. Donnelly (2»yds), with the posible of ten. W. G. Rae (28yds), D. S. Ewing (25yds) and W. C. Whitney (21yds) divided second and third money, with nine each. A first miss-out sweep was won by W. Fairley (23vds) on the second round.
