HEALTH ACT BREACH
HAWKER FRESHENS FISH AT HORSE TROUGH WARNING FOR PUBLIC The throwing of a bucket of water from a horse trough over the fish on his cart resulted in the appearance of Maxwell Piter at the Police Court this morning to answer a charge of committing a breach of the Health Act. A passing health officer observed Pifer’s action, and took him to task. A plea of guilty was entered for Pifer, and Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that a conviction was not pressed for, but that the public was entitled to a warning. “Pifer, with a load of fish, stopped his cart at a trough to water his horse,” continued the sub-inspector. “He filled a bucket from the trough and threw it over his fish to freshen them. The sub-inspector mentioned that it was the first prosecution of its kind. . . Pifer was ordered to pay costs.
