AVIATION BRINGS CITIES CLOSER NEW AUSTRALIAN SERVICE Reed. 9.20 am. ADELAIDE, Today. The long journeys between the Australian capital cities are gradually being reduced by aviation. The latest development in aerial transportation is the inauguration of an aerial service with huge passengercarrying machines between Perth and Adelaide by the Westralian Airways Company. Trial flights with two such machines named the City of Perth and the City of Adelaide have just been completed. The entire distance of 1,450 miles from capital to capital was accomplished in 14 flying hours; whereas the same trip by the transcontinental railway occupies nearly four days, and six by steamer. Each of these airplanes cost £15,000, and is capable of carrying 14 passengers on a normal flight and 21 on shorter trips, when less petrol is required.
