COAL FROM BRITAIN

24,000 TONS ON THE WAY TO AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Thursday. Coal cargoes, amounting to 24,000 tons, are now on their way to Australia from Britain, owing to the suspension of work in the New South Wales collieries. According to English cable advices, eight cargoes of coal are shortly to leave the United Kingdom for Australian ports, states the “Daily Commercial News,” of Sydney. The coal is for gas and steaming purposes for Melbourne and Adelaide. The freight is 28s 9d a ton, and further quantities of coal will be shipped to New Zealand ports. The British steamer Zenada is now bound from Hull with a cargo of coal for the Melbourne Gas Company, and is expected to arrive about June 12.
