MR. ARTHUR TOWSEY WAS FELLOW PUPIL PLAYS HIS MUSIC Described as a unique living link with the late Sir Arthur Sullivan, Mr. Arthur Towsey. octogenarian, of Cambridge, played the famous composer's music at the Hamilton Rotary Club luncheon today. Mr. Karl Atkinson, of Auckland, who gave an absorbing address on the lives of the famous collaborators, said Sir Arthur and Mr. Towsey were pupils at school together and formed a friendship which lasted for many years. Mr. Towsey had been present at many of the original productions and had been responsible for staging several of the operas in New Zealand. “There is a tendency on the part of operatic societies in New Zealand to avoid studiously Gilbert and Sullivan's works,” added the speaker. "Why, I don’t know. I would like to see Hamilton start a revival movement.”
