FLOODLIGHT SOCCER
TO BE PLAYED TONIGHT
The Auckland Football Association has decided, in view of the improved weather conditions to pltiy the match, H.M.S. Diomede v. Ponsonby, at - Bland ford Park tonight by electric light. This match was to have been played last night, but was cancelled as a precaution to preserve the ground for the big programme on Saturday and Monday. However, in view of the early departure of the Navy players, who keenly desire to gain experience of floodlight football, it has been decided to play the game tonight. The teams are a.s. follow: Ponsonby.—Lyon, Kinghorn, Williams, MorriSon, Lornie. Bullock, Saunders, A. Morrison, Wilson, Rogers, Ward. H.M.S. Diomede. —Richardson Man-. Killick. Wilson, Luke, Wiltshire, Weaving, Wright, Gill, Clarke, Dunsford. Reserves: Barton Watson. SOUTH AUCKLAND MATCHES (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. When North Auckland signified that it was unable to meet South Auckland for the Brown Shield next Saturday*, Hawke’s Bay was given the opportunity of playing for the shield in its place. Time was too short, however, to permit of Hawke’s Bay making the necessary arrangements. The South Auckland Association lias therefore arranged the following club fixtures for next Saturday;—Huntly Thistle v. Pukemiro Junction, Pukemiro v. Glen Massey, Hamilton Wanderers v. Claudelands Rovers, Huntly a bye. KING’S BIRTHDAY GAME Mr. J. Ball has been appointed referee of- the match between N.iZ. Navy and Auckland at Blandford Park on Monday.. A curtain-raiser will be played between teams representing Mount Albert Grammar School A and Technical College A, starting at 1.45 p.m.
