A Rugby representative trial match, was played here today* as a. forerunner to the selection of the Waikato representative team to play Auckland at Hamilton on Monday*. Yellow beat Black by* 31 points to 11 after a fast game. The team will be selected on Friday. MATCH DECLARED VOID (From Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, Wednesday. Saturday’s senior Rugby match, Dargaville v. Northern Star, was declared void by the Management Committee of the Northern Wairoa Rugby Union last night. Northern Star entered a protest against the decision of the referee when a Dargaville player was permitted to take his kick at a point other than over the mark, the points scored from which resulted in Dargaville winning. The referee’s report made an admis- j sion of an error in his ruling on this j point, stating that it had been done | to escape a pool of water which surrounded the point where the mark had been taken. The protest was sustained and the match declared void. It will be replayed later. A suggestion from the South Auckland Rugby* Union to play a representative match here was approved. It was decided to reply*, suggesting that the team should visit Dargaville on June 22 or later on, and that the net gate be shared on a 50-50 basis, with £ 20 guarantee to the visitors. It was resolved to request the various clubs under the union’s jurisdiction to enter teams in the King’s Birthday* seven-a-side tournament, and to notify the secretary of the King Country Union, Mr. B. M. Rce, of tlieir intention. The revised rules of the King Country Union were discussed, and the subunion’s delegates advised how to vote on the varioues amendments suggested. It was resolved to dqnate a sum of two guineas toward the expenses of the King Country Union.
