SALES AT ART SHOW The first picture sold after the opening of the animal exhibition of the Auckland Society of Arts last evening was Robert Johnson’s “Morning Light,” £26 ss. Other sales were: “The Old Mill” (Ivy Perry), £5 ss: “Landscape” (B. Wilson), £4 4s; “Palace of Fine Arts, Sau Francisco,” £2 2s. The City Council is considering the purchase of several pictures.
LONDON QUOTATIONS TALLOW AND MEAT The Bank of New Zealand lias received. the following advice from its London office under date May 29; Tallow.—There is a poor demand. Current quotations: Good mutton. 40s to 40s 6d a cwt; good beefs, 39s to 39s 6d; good mixed, 395; gut, 34s to 365.
