AMERICAN SENATE AND TARIFF BILL HUNDREDS OF OBJECTORS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyrxghi) Reed. 10.41 a.m. WASHINGTON, Wed. Senator Smoot today examined the Tariff Bill as passed by the House of Representatives and stated that the Bill cannot be prepared for Senate consideration before September 1. Senator Smoot announced that his Senate Finance Committee would be convened on June 11 to begin hearing those who are dissatisfied with the schedules of the House Bill, and the hearings w ill probably last at leasix weeks, as hundreds of people wish to be heard. It is generally expected that the Senate Committee will make radical departures, both upward and downward, from *hc House rates.
