Big Treble
NORTHERNS AND CORNWALL
With the first oC the Great Northerns being decided at the end of the week, much greater interest is being taken in the big treble. The schooling tasks witnessed on recent mornings have aroused the keenest interest, indicating that the enthusiasts will be present in full force at Ellerslie next week-end. At present a dozen horses are eligible for the Great Northern Hurdles (run on Saturday) and the Great
Northern Steeepleehase (run on Monday), so there is quite a chance this year of the one horse winning the double. The bag flat race, the Cornwall Handicap, bears a very open appearance. The fields in the big treble have dwindled considerably, several failing to survive the acceptance last Friday, but none of the really fancied candidates were numbered among the missing.
