A FAMOUS REGIMENT

LORD METHUEN REVIEWS SCOTS GUARDS COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT British Official Wireless Reed. 10.7 a.m. RUGBY, Tuesday. Field-Marshal Lord Methuen, who is colonel of the Scots Guards, today Inspected 1,200 men of the First and Second Battalions of the regiment, afterwards presenting a number of them with long-service medals In a short speech he referred „o the fine work of the two battalions in China and at Aldershot. Lord Methuen expressed his delight at the presence of the Duke of Connaught, adding: “This year the Duke and I have arrived at our silver wedding. We have had 25 years as colonels of the Grenadier Guards and the Scots Guards.” He called for three cheers for the Duke. The troops marched t past their colonel, first in slow step’ and then in a quick march. Among the invited spectators were ex-officers and men who had served with the regiment in the war at Ypres, on the Somme, and in the attack on the Hhulenburg line.
