MINOR DIPLOMATIC STIR
RETURN OF COLONIES TO GERMANY
OFFICIAL DISAVOWAL
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.43 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. A minor diplomatic stir has been occasioned through disclosure by the German Foreign Under-Secretary, Herr Von Kqhlman. that he recently handed the British Ambassador in Paris, Sir William Tyrrell, a memorandum concerning the possibility of some German colonies being returned.
The Ambassador sent the memorandum to Downing Street, which communicated with Berlin, which in turn disavowed Herr Von Kulilman’s action.
An interesting fact is that, as in all other propaganda for the return of colonies, Herr von Kuhlman omitted to mention Rabaul and Samoa.
