DEVONPORT FIRE BRIGADE

DEMONSTRATION FOR COUNCIL

The Devonport Municipal Fire Brigade last evening gave an exhibition of the use of fire-fighting gear, for the benefit of the members of the Borough Council. The inspection of the brigade Is one of the duties of the council.

Superintendent H. Folia's paraded the brigade and ordered a run out with two engines, illustrating how smartly the men could get water playing on an imaginary fire; demonstrations of defective hoses causing an interruption of service, and the firemen’s way of surmounting the difficulty: the use of unions to get multiple leads of hose, and ladder work, were also given.

Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devonport, expressed the appreciation of the councillors at the smart exhibition of the brigade’s dri.ll, and complimented the men on their sacrifice of time in the public interest. He was supported by Messrs. Ellisdon. Little, Campbell, Walsh and Cassells Brown.
