AUCKLAND ARTS BALL

ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND The Arts Ball Committee met last evening, Dr. E. B. Gunson presiding. The secretary (Air. A. J. Thomson) reported unprecedented applications from members for invitations for themj selves and their friends, and that provision was being made for over 1,000 I guests. The programme committee reported that many novel arid interesting features were being organised, the cooperation having b?en secured of the architectural students, the Elam Art School students, the Auckland Operatic Society, the Little Theatre Society the Quoin Club and many others. A band of 11 musicians under Walter Smith had been engaged. It was decided to invite the “King ol! Kawau" and his retinue to attend the revels. Air. Noah and his ark will also figure prominently in the opening proceedings. The supper committee reported that satisfactory catering arrangements were being made. The ball, which is fixed for June 18, 1 promises to be the most festive function that Auckland has seen for a very ! long time.
