LORRY OVER EMBANKMENT
PASSENGER PINNED UNDER CAB ACCIDENT NEAR QUARRY When a lorry in which he had accepted a ride overturned as it was coming: cut of the Mount Albert Borough Council’s quarry yesterday afternoon, Mr. William Workman, an employee of the council, had his collarbone and several ribs broken. Mr. Workman, accepted a ride on a lieavily-laden lorry driven by Mr. Ivan Bebich, which left the quarry about 4 o’clock. The vehicle had just left the quarry and was travelling along an embanked road at the entrance when the wheels went over the edge and it rolled down a distance of about five feet, coming to rest on its side. The driver was not hurt, but *he passenger was thrown out and caught by his neck underneath the cab. He was quickly released and the St. John Ambulance, which had been called in the meantime, rendered first aid. and then took him to hospital.
Mr. Workman lives at 1 Port Lane, Parnell. His condition is reported to be fairly satisfactory this morning.
