ST. GREGORY ORDER GIVEN TO AUSTRALIANS A BRILLIANT CEREMONY SYDNEY, Sunday i A brilliant ceremony was witnessed i today in St. Mary's Cathedral, Sydney. When papal honours were conferred j on a number of citizens for services j rendered to the Roman Catholic [ Church during the recent E | haristic Congress and in previous years. Five laymen, Sir Mark Sheldon. ■ Messrs. R. D. Meagher, L. Cotter,’ Michael Meagher and Matthew O’Neill j were admitted as Knight Command- ; ers of the Order of St. Gregory, and j a number of other distinctions sere l conferred. j Father Meaney, the organiser of the) congress, who is now visiting Rome, j and Father P. J. Baugh have been made domestic prelates to the Pope, with the title of Right Rerevend Monsignor.
