JUNIOR TENNIS
ADVISORY COMMITTEE PROPOSED (From Our Resident Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sunday. So impressed is the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association by the standard of play at the recent national junior championships held at Wellington that it is considering setting up a Junior Advisory Committee to develop the game among young players and allowing it an annual sum of some hundreds of pounds. The radical departure from its previous policy is evidence of the manner in which the controlling body was struck by the promise displayed by many juniors previously unheard of outside their own particular districts. The tournament, which was launched as a twoyearly event, is also likely to become an annual fixture. For years previously the New Zealand Association has refused to move in the matter of nursing junior players, holding that the responsibility for encouraging youngsters rested with the various provincial associations. The tournament represented a thorough combing of the country, the 75 players being drawn from 15 different associations and 40 different townships. from Kaipara to the Bluff.
