VAGRANT REMANDED
SAID TO HAVE OPERATED DRUNK. WHEN ARRESTED Said by Chief Detective Hammond to have defrauded ih.e Young Men’s Christian Association by means of a valueless cheque, Daniel Heblev was remanded at the Police Couif this morning until Thursday for sentence on a charge of vagrancy. Hebley, a labourer, aged 34. pleaded guilty on a charge of being idle and disorderly, and of having insufficient lawful means of support. According to the chief-detective, Hebley had paid for accommodation ai the Y.M.C.A. with a valueless cheque. He had also received a sum of money as change. It was pointed out to the chief-de-tective that Hebley had not been charged on account of that transaction, and a remand was then made.
