PRISONER AND S.M. HOPE FOR LONG SEPARATION PROBATION FOR FRAUD “You will get six months if I see you here again," said Mr. F. K. Hunt,, S.M., to Claude Aitken at the Police Court this morning. I hope you don’t then. A ITKEN appeared for sentence, liaving been convicted last Monday on a charge of obtaining benzine and oil valued at £4 5s 3d by means of valueless cheques. Mr. C. A. Snedden, for Aitken, said that he had been sent sufficient money to make restitution. “He was working on a farm near Hamilton when, he was arrested," continued counsel, “and he can go back, so I would suggest probation. He has had a week in gaol already.” The Magistrate: Yes, he thought he was going to walk out without any punishment. He has had a lesson. Aitken was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution
