TRAGIC LORRY SMASH

THE SUN Stop Press

THIRD VICTIM’S CONDITION SATISFACTORY CORONER’S INQUEST Mr. George Ulich, the third man who was injured in the motor smash on Mount Eden Road on Tuesday evening and who received serious head injuries, is now making satisfactory progress at the Auckland Hospital. Mr. Ulicli was thrown out of the lorry on to the road when the vehicle struck the telegraph post. The other two victims of the accident, Mr. Frederick Richard Watkin and Mr. George Durham Biddick, died at the Auckland Hospital yesterday morning as the result of the severe burns they received when the cab of the lorry burst into flames. All the travellers on the lorry were employees of Messrs. Winstone, Ltd. A coroner’s inquest on the deaths of the two men was opened yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. After evidence of identification had been given the inquest was adjourned sine die.
