PLAYING BRIDGE
WELLINGTON GUESTS GIVEN A PARTY VIOLETS AND ROSES A rosebud of vivid red nestled in the heart of a beautiful posy of violets presented to Mrs. L. M. Johnston, of Wellington, at a party given in her honour last evening by Mrs. R. Roberts,. of Remuera Road, with whom Mr. and Mrs. Johnston are staying. Eight bridge tables were arranged in the lounge and drawing-rooms, which were fragrant with bowls of exquisite violets, the blueness of them relieved with trails of asparagus fern. To receive- her guests Mrs. Roberts wore a charming gown of black georgette draped to one side and caught with a brilliant motif. Mrs. Johnston wore a smart gown of midnight blue crepe faille with a trail of flowers at the shoulder. Her guests included Mrs. Ashton, Mrs. Pope, Mrs. H. Watson. Mrs. Hay, Mrs. Paul Saunders. Mrs. Laird. Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. A. Carr. Mrs. Roberts, jun., Mrs. P. Wilson, Mrs. 11. Campbell, Mrs. Ross. Miss Saunders, Miss Wicks. Miss Farrell. Miss Peggy , Campbell and Miss Bell. ~ (
