OPOTIKI RUGBY UNION
(From Our Own Correspondent) At the weekly meeting of the Opotiki Rugby Union, held on Afonday night, it was decided to secure a £4O flood-light on trial for night practice. Owing to the fact that the Alaoris were holding important religious festivities on June 1, the Apanui Union asked that the representative match be played on May 23. It was agreed to play at Maraenui as requested. The Rotorua Rugby Union wrote asking that tho Opotiki Rugby Union should play a representative match at Rotorua at an early date. It was resolved to reply asking the union to again apply later in the season. Tho Whakatane Union wrote agreeing to play the Opotiki reps, on June 3, but asked that the match be played at AVhakatane instead of at Taneatua. As the Apanui match was fixed to be played a week sooner than expected the union decided to agree to play at Whakatane. OAving to senior teams arriving late on the field, it was decided to fine defaulting teams 5s on each occasion. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of condolence to Mrs. Hari Hari Ranapia in connection with the death
