According to the report the invested funds amount to £27,708 The A 9 ??,,™ as follow: Costley, i. 7,700; Mackeehnie Library, £2,000; Campbell, £1,0#0; Herr'ies, £1,000; Shaw, £1,000; Nathan, £100; Mar‘‘Jf 11 , &lf t, £550; together with i. 12,504 comprising the Museum endowment; £133 in the Sir James Guns°” pre . sentatioa fund account; and £1,721 in the life members’ subscription account. The sum of £19,950 is invested in mortgages, £6,900 in corporation debentures, £6OO in Gas Company debentures, and £259 on deposit in banks. After placing on record the services of the president, Mr. H. E. Vaile, the report says that the customary sources of revenue yielded during til year the anticipated income, namely, £426 from annual subscriptions, and £1,704 from invested funds, while in addition £483 came from life members’ subscriptions and £3,000 from the Auckland City Council. During the first half of the year it was necessary to arrange further loans, amounting to £5,400, to meet payments totalling £12,253 on the show cases, which were prepaid in August when the balance of the purchase- money for the Princes Street property, namely, £31,000, was paid. The sum of £1,005 was spent in removing to the new building and reconditioning specimens. The credit balance is £9,034. A satisfactory increase in membership is recorded, the roll standing at 610, compared with 573 last year. Of this number, 141 are life members.
