MINISTER’S WARNING WELCOME AT MOTUEKA Press Association OTU EKA, T odAy* * The Prime Minister was accorded a most enthusiastic civic reception at viotueka today. In reply to the welcome by Mr. c P Clay, the Mayor, Sir Joseph thanked rha meeting for the heartiness of its and assured the district that although demands on the public funds throughout the country were in excess the means at the Government’s disposal, the Government would be wiling and anxious to meet the legitimate requirements ot tne district. He could , ee the Government was holding a position in Parliament which it was likely to retain. It was gratifying to himself and his colleagues to experience such enthusiastic receptions. The Hon. H. Atmore, after thanking [he Mayor for the heartiness of the reception, alluded to the pending changes in the education policy, saying that it was necessary to revise the primary system from the fourth standard upward, so as to ensure that a teacher will be able to discover the iptitude of every child for his life's work after leaving school. Messrs. Makitanara, Healy and Black. M.P.’s. also spoke, the flrstnaraed addressing the Maoris present He urged them to assist the United party in its land policy, and thus help toward the prosperity of Mew Zealand as part of the British Empire.
